Biomarkers of precocious atherosclerotic risk in type 1 Diabetes

This research line focuses on the study of silent ischemic heart disease and searches for non-classical biomarkers related to low-grade chronic inflammation and hormones with an important systemic and local role, in order to find a more powerful determinant of vascular disease before clinical signs became apparent in type 1 Diabetes. In this line new epigenetic tools are used to complete a biomarker profile.
